The Lecht 2090 Ski Centre is only six miles south of Tomintoul and is set 2090 feet above sea level in the Eastern Cairngorms. In the winter months there is skiing and snowboarding. In the summer you can try Deval Karts, Tubing, Quad Bikes and Chairlift Rides.

Malt Whisky Trail - Visit the whisky distilleries and see whisky being made in the age old manner.

Scotlands Castle Trail - Ballindalloch, Drumin and Corgarff castles are nearby.

Also nearby you will find: Battle sites, museums, gardens, ruins, standing stones, earth houses and churches. We are situated on the Highland Tourist Route from Aberdeen through Upper Donside on to the Lecht and Tomintoul.

Natural Sights

The Tomintoul area is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay with unspoilt rolling countryside, pine forests, lochs, rivers, spectacular mountains, unique flora and fauna. You may spot a Deer, Highland Cattle grazing in the fields, Red Squirrel or even a Capercaille. The stars are spectacular on a clear night and if you stay in December you may even witness the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).

Walking & Cycling

Tomintoul lies to the South of the Glenlivet Estate, which has over 90 square miles of landscape with a network of over 100 miles of waymarked paths, cycle trails, local walks and long distance paths. If you want to be more ambitious there are the Cairngorm Mountains, Cromdale Hills, Ladder Hills and the Speyside Long Distance Path which is 84 miles long and leads into Tomintoul.

If you fancy a go at being creative you can try tuition in stained glass design and construction at A'anside Studios in Tomintoul. There is also ceramic tile painting, batik making and water colour painting at Tomintoul Art Gallery.
